AVONDALE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS STARTS BOOK CLUB WITH ACTOR COLUMBUS SHORT AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCER ROGER BOBB OF TYLER PERRY STUDIOS AT BARNES & NOBLE CAMP CREEK

On Saturday October 10th, Saving Our Daughters Volume 2 was introduced to over 100 women from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta,Hosea Feed The Hungry and 9th and 12th graders from Avondale High School-also in attendance were positive young fathers that purchased books to inspire their daughters.

This was a very special day for the Avondale High School because they just started their book club called “Avondale Blue Ladies Book” and had enlisted Volume 2 series as their first official book of reading. The book club will be coordinated by Graduation Coach, Lakara Foster at Avondale High School.

"It's Cool to be Smart" afforded our Avondale Blue Ladies Book Club the opportunity of a lifetime. The girls were extremely excited about having their books signed by actor Columbus Short, Roger Bobb, and Curtis Benjamin. They started reading it right there in the store! Of course they all gushed over Columbus and was moved by Georgia Me's Spoken Word performance. We are all looking forward to having our first discussion about the book this Friday!!!"

At hand for the Volume 2 book signing at Barnes & Noble Camp Creek in Atlanta ,was Actor Columbus Short front “Stomp The Yard”, “This Christmas” and new movie “Armored”, Executive Producer Roger Bobb of Tyler Perry Studios-who is also the national spokesperson for theSaving Our Daughters Series and Author Curtis Benjamin . As each young lady received their sign copy of the book -Columbus and Roger-the encouraged them to be strong thru anything they might be going through in their community. One teen girl from Avondale stated “I am so glad other people are going thru the same issues as me”.

The ladies at Avondale will start their readings in October and will follow up with a intense discussion from concerning the topic of Volume 2 with one selected celebrity in the book.

NIA LONG SURPRISES TEEN GIRLS FROM THE L.A. ALLIANCE OF BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS, AT “SAVING OUR DAUGHTERS” BOOK SIGNING..WITH SUPPORT FROM RIHANNA, GRAMMY SONG WRITER SEAN GARRETT & T-PAIN; SPONSORING BOOKS FOR FATHERS DAY

On Friday, June 19th, teen girls from 4 clubs of the L.A. Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs (Burbank and Greater East Valley; Carson; East Los Angeles and Hollywood) attended the 2nd Annual “Saving Our Daughters” Book Fair/Signing at Barnes & Noble at the Grove with Actress Nia Long and Actor Gary Sturgis (Diary of a Mad Black Woman & Daddy’s Little Girls). The 2nd Annual signing was coordinated by Kim Washington, Board Chair, Boys & Girls Clubs of Burbank and Greater East Valley, Anna Araujo, Executive Director, Boys & Girls Clubs of East Los Angeles , Author Curtis Benjamin, Artist Program Director Tequilla Whitfiled and Promotions Director Saffiyyah Amin of ICTBS Publishing/It’s Cool To Be Smart.

(Based out of Atlanta) Nia spoke to the young ladies about building self-esteem and encouraging them to be their best no matter what; as they walked up to have their book signed. The event kicked off with all the Boys & Girls Clubs’ teen girls receiving a copy of the book which was special sponsored by T-Pain, Rihanna-with her foundation, BELIEVE Foundation and Grammy Song Writer Sean Garrett. “These young ladies deserve to have a special gift to give to their fathers on Father’s Day which involves positive relationships between fathers and daughters” stated Sean Garrett-who is the major sponsor for the book series.

Rihanna and her foundation will also be joining the book series, to inspire teen girls this October. Additionally, Access Hollywood stopped by to cover the special event and will air on TV One Access the week of July 6th.
